General
The largest and most powerful of Eden's nations the city-state of Disea has survived more than two millennia since it's founding by the hero Cysius the Lawbringer, who waged a war that unified the land's warring tribes into a single republic. Cysius was crowned First Imperator by Disea's newly formed Senate, which served as the states deliberative body for nearly two thousand years, alongside a series of Emperors, each elected to his position. The beginning of Disea's third millennium and the rule of Emperor Marcus Adaus brought major changes however. Most striking was the forcible retirement of a number of Disea's Senators and a subsequent restructuring of the state's government and military with the Emperor at the head of what was essentially a monarchy. His power secured Marcus began a military campaign to reclaim lands formerly part of the Disean Empire over the preceding few centuries. It is during this time that Eden was struck by the events of the Cataclysm and Marcus Adaus disappeared, leaving the nation without a ruler. In the resulting chaos that followed Edmund Faust; an ambitious general of the Empire's Navy, staged a daring coup, killing the Emperor's heirs and declaring himself Disea's new ruler.
Geography
Disea's geography consists of a primary mountainous and craggy mainland; and numerous small islands scattered to the south. Disea's mountain ranges consist of some of the highest peaks to be found anywhere in Eden, the tallest peak falling just short of 10,000 feet. Nearly four-fifths of the entire mainland is composed of mountains or hills and is for the large part covered by dense hardwood forests. Due to this fact while Disea has a great deal in the way of natural resources such as iron it has little in the form of arable land and had depended much in the past upon trade to keep its citizens fed.
Technology
In terms of technology, Disea; while not producing innovations on the level of Amstra, has progressed far in the fields of metallurgy and chemistry, particularly in terms of their application to the improvement of The Empire's war efforts. The biggest impact to date has been the creation of gunpowder by Imperial researchers which has resulted in the new field of gun smithing, as well as significant changes to both mining and civil engineering efforts.
Religion
The people of Disea practice a polytheistic religion, with a number of different gods and goddesses and a rich mythology surrounding them. Of all the gods and heroes of Disean mythology, the First Imperator Cysius the Lawbringer is held in the greatest reverence, the mortal man now deified in the eyes of the Empire's people. However, under the rule of Edmund Faust, Disea has no formal religion and many of the practitioners of its traditions now find themselves persecuted.
